When the world needed Christ most, He came. “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.” Galatians 4:4
Into the midst of sin and darkness, Christ came with the sunlight of glory. Into the world of bondage, our Lord came to give liberty and freedom. Into a world of hopelessness, Christ came with a ringing message of hope. Into a world of war and strife, Christ came. They sang of Him that He would bring “peace on earth and goodwill toward men.” Into a world of hatred, Christ came to give a message of love. He told us, His people, to love one another as He loved us. Into a world of misery, Christ came to declare that God's mercy reaches the vilest of the vile. Into a world of doubt and bewilderment, Christ came to assure men that God invites them to Himself. “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)
Yet the world did not receive Him. He came into His own country and people, but they did not receive Him. Nothing demonstrates more clearly the depravity of the human heart than the act of rejecting Christ, the penalty of which is eternal separation from God.
Little did the ancient innkeeper in Bethlehem realize he was turning away from his door the Savior Who had come to bring peace, joy, salvation and satisfaction. The Bread of Life was rejected for the world's bread of death.
Today the world rushes heedlessly on, celebrating Christmas without Christ, hilariously whooping and hollering with the short-lived joy of the fleeting world, refusing to own the Son of God as Master and Lord of life.
The world that now is and the world of long ages past share one evil thing in common—no room for Christ: no room in the heart, no room for worship, no room for service, no room for the only One Who makes life worthwhile.
No room for Him Who is Life, Master, Gift of God, Prince of Peace, King of kings, Lord of lords, Truth, Righteousness and Way of Salvation to all who believe.
The question comes. Do you have room for Christ? Have you trusted Him as your own personal Savior? Is your penalty of sin paid for by the blood of the Lamb of God? “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
And for those who have trusted in Christ as Savior, are you celebrating Him? Are you making room for Him this busy season? Right now—take time for Christ. Celebrate Him this Christmas season!
